@ Bahi,

One comment about lenses and cropping on non-ff cameras. There is a reason DX lenses are made... it's because lenses that are designed for the full 35mm frame arn't optimized for a DX sized sensor. With wide lenses, Barrel distortion, chromatic abortions, and vignetting (at the corners) are reduced. For these improvements to be maximized, the sensor size must be taken into account in the design. These improvements are pointless if the image is cropped.

The cropping does not simply change the focal length of the lens, it crops the image to make the lens "act" like a longer lens, but the lens is not designed to be used that way.

I guess my point is that if it's better to buy a DX lens for a DX camera and an FX lens for an FX camera, than the cropping isn't just making the lens longer.

All this said, if you like longer lenses, and you want to save money, by using a DX body with an FX lend you already own to get a narrower FOV. But you can also get a faster lens with the same FOV if you buy a DX lens. Because it's designed to gather light for a smaller sensor.

Filevault is enabled in my system, so Time Machine makes my user folder backup only when I log out.

Everything went all right, except for one thing - just before replacing the disk I have made full backup. At 1am. However when I started restoring process - the last available backup was offered was 12 hours old - created at 1pm the previous day.

After restoring has been finished - it seems the backup used was actually fresh (1am). So there's a little mess. But anyway - replacement of the HD with keeping all data went almost pain free. All files, settings, even trash bin - was kept. CS3 asked for reactivation, iTunes too, desktop background disappeared - so far the only troubles I have encountered.

Fix for me was to step RIGHT back to the language selection screen, which triggered the restore process to re-scan for available disks to copy the image to.

I own the 3800 and can vouch for the value and convenience of larger ink tanks. There's nothing worse than running out of ink without seeing it coming. Smaller ink tanks can sometimes be tricky as the utility shows that you have a reasonable amount of ink left, but one color or the other can quickly run dry on you in the middle of even a modest print job.

The 3800 has plenty of ink to last a while, plus if it has been a while between print jobs you don't have to worry about a print head cleaning leaving you needing to make an ink order.

I'll never go back to small tanks again. The only kicker is when the ink does run out it really hurts your wallet. Good thing is, since the ink is divided up amongst the 9 massive cartridges, you seldom need to buy them all at one time.

I had to replace failing hard disks twice, which I did manually, and then my screen failed so I sent the thing in and Apple Care didn't give me any trouble about the fact that my machine started out with an 80 GB drive but now had a 160 GB drive. I didn't damage anything by doing the swaps myself, so they were happy to fix the screen under warranty. Just be upfront with them and you're good.
