A couple strolling through a recently rebuilt part of Mauerpark in Berlin

🚨 If we are lucky, this election cycle will reach a conventional stopping point in time. Otherwise, it’s the election that could break America. “We talk about it, some worry about it, and we imagine what it would be. But few people have actual answers to what happens if the machinery of democracy is used to prevent a legitimate resolution to the election.” The closest example is in the 1876 election where Tilden conceded only two days before Grant’s term expired.

🤠 I’m so happy to see that my birth state of Texas has already surpassed its total 2016 election turnout. “The surge in turnout is fueled by nearly 2 million newly registered Texas voters since 2016, many of them under 45 years old.” (via Apple News)

📅 Have you voted yet? Or, do you have a plan for voting on Tuesday? I sure hope so.

⁉️ Now that November 3rd is almost here, the next question is: What’s your plan for the 79 days between Election Day and Inauguration Day? The Interregnum if you will? From over here in Germany, I think all we can do is watch, wait, and comment.

🔫 What’s scary is that some seem to be expecting others to make bad plans: Walmart pulls guns off the shelves as a precaution ahead of the election. Quote Walmart: “we have moved our firearms and ammunition off the sales floor as a precaution for the safety of our associates and customers… These items do remain available for purchase by customers.” (via @bwjones)
